Roving the Planets at GCER 2010

Astronomer, writer, and podcaster Pamela L. Gay, PhD, is schedule to give a talk titled, “Roving the Planets” at this summer’s Global Conference on Educational Robotics.

According to Dr. Gay, her talk will explore

“the many ways space agencies around the world are deploying robotic missions, the science that’s coming back, the new ways we’re learning to teach robots to make their own path across alien landscapes, and what we are dreaming of doing in the not so distant future.”

Dr. Gay is on the faculty at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where her scientific research focuses on variable stars and galaxy evolution, and where she is an active researcher and programmer for the Zooniverse project. In addition to her research, Dr. Gay pursues a variety of outreach and new media projects intended to engage the public with astronomy.

Astronomy Cast

Her most well-known project may be Astronomy Cast, a podcast she co-hosts with Fraser Cain (producer of Universe Today). Each week, she and Fraser take their listeners on a facts-based journey through the universe that explores not only what we know, but how we know it.
