BOTBALL CBCv2 Simulator, 2010 Preview:

Botball workshop participants will be testing their code using a new and improved BOTBALL CBCv2 Robot Simulator.

Completely rewritten since 2009, the new BOTBALL robot simulator emulates the CBCv2 Botball robot controller and runs programs written for the controller without modification, allowing users to run and test robot code from within the KISS programming environment.

In the classroom, this translates to more programming practice for students. Using the simulator, they can prototype and test their ideas in the simulator before building a robot and without waiting in line for a controller to be available.

New features and improvements for 2010 include:

  • more configurable simulated robots and worlds
  • support for non-Create based robots
  • improved performance
  • new game world design format
  • more realistic physics and sensor feedback

Source Code?

Any chance the CBCv2 simulator will be open-sourced? We’re looking at developing a simulator in-house (for eventual release at GCER), and we’d be interested in looking at the new implementation.

Thanks!

We’re not planning to make the source code available at this time, but I’ve forwarded your request along.
