2007 National Conference Events
The National Conference on Educational Robotics (NCER) features the International Botball Tournament, however, there is much more to see and do at the NCER. Following is a description of the many opportunities that are available for registered participants.
Since there are no documentation or onsite presentation requirements for the National Tournament, we encourage students, teachers, mentors and other robot enthusiasts to focus their creative and writing efforts on submitting a paper or a showcase to be presented at the conference.
Breakout Sessions and Showcase
The NCER features breakout sessions where students, teachers, mentors and other robot enthusiasts share papers that they have written and submitted through our Call for Papers. There will also be an Autonomous Robot Showcase and Poster Session where students, teachers, mentors and other robot enthusiasts can showcase their original, non-Botball, autonomous robots and/or posters related to robotic topics. You can read more about the Call for Papers here. For more information about the Call for Robotics Showcase, click here.
Guest Speakers
We have an impressive line-up of guest speakers as well from such organizations as NASA, iRobot and SPAWAR. Attending a guest speaker session is a great opportunity for students to hear from professionals who are currently working in robotics and technology related fields. Robot Olympiad and Trivia Contest
The Robot Olympiad Contest has become a highly anticipated event each year at NCER. We’re happy to announce that we’ll also be bringing back the Robot Trivia Contest this year. Students, teachers and robot enthusiasts have the opportunity to “test” their knowledge of robotics and win prizes! The Robot Olympiad and the Robot Trivia Contest are paper and pencil tests covering robotics related topics. The Olympiad covers technical and academic knowledge while the trivia contest tests knowledge of robots in pop culture such as movies and TV.
Beyond Botball
Also featured at the NCER is Beyond Botball. Beyond Botball is a Botball-type game designed for robot enthusiasts who are “beyond” Botball age. We will be featuring the seeding and double elimination rounds for that tournament at the NCER as well. Read more about Beyond Botball here.
