National Conference on Educational Robotics
2006 Pre-Conference Sessions
We are pleased to announce that the 2006 National Conference on Educational Robotics will feature two pre-conference sessions! Pre-conference is scheduled for Thursday, July 6, 2006. You can choose to attend one full day session on either beginning programming or mechanical design.
Pre-Conference sessions cost $60 per participant. Children 12 and under must be supervised by an adult who is registered for and attending the same pre-conference session.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Beginning Programming
This class features beginning programming skills using Interactive C and the XBC simulator. The class is designed for people with little or no experience with programming and requires the use of a laptop computer as outlined below.
Each participant will be required to have a laptop computer that meets the following specifications:
- Running one of the following operating systems
- Mac OS X 10.1 or later
- Windows 98
- Windows ME
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP
- Must have CD Rom drive
- Must have privileges to install new software on the computer
Introduction to Mechanical Design with Lego Technic
This class features the basics of what makes sound mechanical design for Botball-style Lego robots. Students in this session will be taken through the basics of what makes “good” mechanical design through hands-on building lessons. No computer will be necessary for this session.
