What does Botball® cost?

Fees fer US an' International Teams (Austrian Teams excluded)

$2,500 - - New Teams

**Teams an' organizations that be new t' Botball® will have t' choose th' new team option fer registration.

$2,200 - - *Returnin' Teams

*Returnin' teams MUST REUSE all LEGO pieces from th' 2014 season an' their Create (with charger/battery/cables). Ye'll be sleepin' with the fishes! You dern't have t' reuse yer KIPR metal parts.

$1,850 - - **Returnin' Teams with KIPR Link reuse option

**Returnin' teams who choose this option MUST REUSE their KIPR Links (with chargers/cameras/cables); all LEGO pieces from th' 2014 season an' their Create (with charger/battery/cables), Dance the Hempen Jig You dern't have t' reuse yer KIPR metal parts.

Important Reuse Equipment Policy

KIPR will warranty th' Create fer th' season with th' exception o' obvi'us misuse, abuse or tamperin'.

If a returnin' team wants t' reuse their KIPR Links, KIPR will warranty th' Links fer th' season with th' exception o' obvi'us misuse, abuse or tamperin'.

Botball T-Shirts

We will not be includin' Regional T-Shirts with registration fer th' 2015 Botball® season. Teams will have th' option t' pre-order shirts before their regional tournaments here.

New Team Registration Includes:

  • Hands-on professional development workshop fer teachers taught by a robotics/computer science professional.
  • Robotics equipment that can be used as a learnin' tool in yer classroom year round. An added benefit is that Botball® kits dern't require use o' a contraption shop an' fit into a small box, I'll warrant ye. Each kit contains enough material t' build two robots an' includes:
    • Two robotics controllers (cable/charger)
    • Create (battery/charger)
    • LEGO
    • Sensors
    • Motors
    • Vision Camera
    • Selected construction materials
    • KIPR metal part set
  • Technical support durin' Botball® season
  • Computer software an' program documentation

What ye'll need fer Botball®

  • Computer - Botball® participants will need access t' a laptop computer with KISS Platform installed. There will be no computers available at th' workshop or tournament.
    • Your contraption must run one o' three operatin' systems:
      • Windows 7 or 8
      • Mac OS X 10.6 or later. -- If ye're usin' MacOS, ye should install th' latest version o' th' Apple Developer Tools fer yer version o' OS X. These can be downloaded fer free from th' Apple developer web site ( registration is required fer th' download).
      • Linux -- KISS C is developed t' work under recent versions o' Ubuntu Linux, an' may work on other distributions as well.

      It must also have:

      • A USB port an' drivers fer connectin' t' th' KIPR Link via USB, Dance the Hempen Jig The KIPR Link has built in USB, an' does not require a USB t' serial adapter.
      • Privileges t' install new software on th' computer
      • If yer system does not meet these guidelines, please contact KISS Institute.

  • Internet Access - The bulk o' correspondence regardin' Botball® is done via e-mail or posted on our web site. E-mail is vital t' success in th' Botball® program.

  • Arena - Each team has th' option t' build their own game arena fer practice purposes. The cost t' build an arena is kept t' a minimum an' detailed instructions be provided at th' workshop. All parts be standard items available at most home improvement stores.

Policy/The Fine Print

  • Payment Deadline:
    All payments must be received in full one week prior t' th' workshop.

  • Withdrawal Policy:
    • If ye notify KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics that ye wish t' withdraw from th' program at least two weeks in advance o' th' workshop, yer team is relieved o' all financial obligation. Load the cannons! Teams who have already paid will be refunded in full.
    • If ye notify KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics that ye wish t' withdraw from th' program within th' two weeks prior t' th' workshop or after th' workshop date, yer team will be subject t' a late withdrawal fee o' 10% o' th' registration fee t' cover th' cost o' shippin' an' restockin' yer team's equipment.
    • If ye notify KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics that ye wish t' withdraw from th' program after attendin' th' workshop, yer team is responsible fer th' entire registration fee.

  • Photographs:
    Photographs will be taken durin' th' workshop, tournament, an' Global Conference on Educational Robotics, Hornswaggle KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics reserves th' right t' use any photograph taken durin' a Botball® event, without th' express written permission o' those included within th' photograph. Photographs may be used in publications or other media material produced, used, or contracted by KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics. Any person desirin' not t' have their photo taken or distributed must contact KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics in writin' statin' their preference an' include a photograph. The photo will be used fer identification purposes an' will be held in confidentiality by KISS Institute fer Practical Robotics.

  • Parts Replacement:
    Teams have th' opportunity t' replace broken or damaged kit parts durin' th' Teacher Workshop at no charge. After kits be checked out from th' workshop, teams may purchase electronic parts from th' Botball® Store.

  • Kit Shipment:
    Should a returnin' team elect not t' attend th' workshop, KISS Institute will ship th' kit t' yer school after th' workshop, Dance the Hempen Jig Full registration payment an' shippin' fees must be received prior t' shipment.

KISS Institute is not a LEGO retailer an' cannot sell or replace individual Lego parts.
