Botball participants will need access to a laptop computer with the KISS Platform programming environment installed. Computers will not be provided at the workshop or tournament. In order to use the KISS software, your laptop must run one of the following operating systems:
- Mac OS X 10.3 or later
- Windows 8, 7, Vista, XP, or 2000
Additionally, you must have
- A USB port
- A CD ROM drive
- An account with privileges to install new software and hardware on the computer (some schools/organizations will have IT staff that may need to install the software before the workshop)
If your computer does not meet one or more of these requirements, please contact us before attending your workshop.
You need to have reliable internet access in order to succeed in Botball. You will use the internet to get the latest information and software, submit required documentation, and get tech support.
Email is vital to your success in the Botball program. We send regular emails to all registered teams to make sure you have the latest updates on rule clarifications, software updates, and more.
Prior to the workshop, we recommend that you add the following email addresses to your address book and any email filtering software that you use.
Botball Game Table
We recommend that each team build their own game table for practice purposes. The game table is designed to allow teams to construct the entire table or to build it in more classroom-friendly sections.
The cost to build an arena is kept to a minimum and detailed instructions are provided at the workshop. All parts are standard items available at a home improvement store.
