Oklahoma State Department of Education Robotics Grant

About This Grant

Through House Bill 1133, the Oklahoma State Legislature has approved $100,000 in grant funds for high schools in Oklahoma who have never participated in robotics projects. Don’t be confused by wording in this grant that specifies remote-controlled robot projects! Although Botball robots are considered autonomous in nature, they can be considered a form of remote control because instructions to the robot are given by the human while the operator is remote and separate from the robot in both space and time. Because of this, autonomous robots have an additional level of remoteness over a robot controlled by a joystick. We have been assured by Oklahoma State Superintendent, Sandy Garrett, that applications submitted by teachers who wish to participate in Botball fall within the scope of this grant and will be considered based on merit.

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility for this grant is limited to Oklahoma high schools that have not previously participated in robot competitions. Programs that receive grant funding must submit a final project report and expenditure report to the Office of Standards and Curriculum upon completion of the project.
