May 2, 2007
Saturday, April 28, 2007 was a big day for Botball Tournaments!
- The first of three international tournaments was held in Doha, Qatar. The Gulf Times and the Peninsula Newspapers published great articles about the tournament and the Qatar teams.
- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hosted the very first Greater St. Louis Botball Regional Tournament (check out the pictures). The Bellville News Democrat interviewed Dr. Jerry Weinberg, department chair of computer science at SIUE and Greater St. Louis Regional Botball Organizer, about the event.
- The Hawaii Regional Botball Tournament was held at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu - the future site of NCER 2007! Helen Altonn from the Star Bulletin watched tournament rounds all day and published TWO stories about the Hawaii Botball Regional:
- The first story focuses on the overall tournament and includes a list of the awards.
- The second story focuses primarily on the “Olomana School, which serves the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility in Kailua, is the first of its kind in the nation to participate in a Botball robotics tournament”.
