If you plan on participating in the NASA Robotics Alliance Project Web Course, here are things to do in preparation:
- Get out your XBC and charge it overnight if you haven’t used it in awhile.
- Find the serial interface to your desktop or laptop computer.
- Check that you have IC 6.14 coding environment loaded on the computer.
- Try communicating with the XBC, using a test program on IC. (They will go over loading instructions and getting started during the class, if you have trouble. You have ‘getting started’ instructions on your CD.)
- Review your kit and check against the parts list that all the parts are there as a way to become familiar with the LEGO and electronics.
- If you want a head start on building, go to KIPR Robot Kit Instructions Page and download the appropriate assembly instructions.
- Go to the web interface for the course and make sure that everything works and that you’ve got all the neccessary plugins. On that page, you can also view the assembly movie or slides that correspond to your kit:
- Assembly 1 corresponds to the NASA Webcast XBC Robot Starter Kit V1. The documentation CD included with this kit has BLACK lettering.
- Assembly 2 corresponds to the NASA Webcast XBC Robot Starter Kit V2 or 2005-2006 BOTBALL® Season Kit. The documentation CD included with the starter kit has BLUE lettering.
- Assembly 3 corresponds to the NASA Webcast XBC Robot Starter Kit V3 The documentation CD included with this kit has RED lettering.
