Botball Kit Questions

  1. We participated last year. Can we use the kit from last year’s tournament?
  2. We lost a piece of our kit. Can we get replacement parts?
  3. How many robots can my team build with one Botball kit?

Q: We participated last year. Can we use the kit from last year’s tournament?

A:For the 2008 season, teams have the option of providing their own Game Boy Advance consoles and receiving a $100 discount off their 2008 Botball registration fee! By choosing this incentive, teams elect to reuse their GBAs from a past year or use a different Game Boy console of their own including the Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP, or Game Boy Micro. Each team will receive a new electronics kit, an iRobot Create, and a bag of Lego for the 2008 season at their regional workshop. All kit components are completely reusable and can be used in the classroom year after year to support activities, lessons and curriculum. See the Botball team registration area of our website for more information on the Game Boy Incentive.

Q: We lost a piece of our kit. Can we get replacement parts?

A: Botball kit parts other then Lego are sold separately. Please visit our KIPR Botball Store to place an order.

KISS Institute is not a Lego retailer. Should your team need to replace a Lego part included in the approved kit, you are encouraged to purchase that item directly from Lego.

Should your team use any item not included in the approved kit during the Botball tournament, your team’s robot will be disqualified. A complete list of approved parts is distributed at the Educator’s Workshop.

Q: How many robots can my team build with one Botball kit?

A: Each Botball kit contains two microprocessors and an iRobot Create as well as enough sensors, motors, and Lego to build two autonomous robots. Because the kits are reusable, the building possibilities are endless!
